In Greenock, at the junction of Brougham Street and Robertson Street, the Picture Palace, a conversion of a roller skating rink, opened in 1912. It closed in 1929 and became a ballroom. A new Picture Palace was built opposite across Brougham Street which became the Gaumont in 1955.
More recently the old Picture Palace has been occupied by Rileys (snooker) and Priyas Palace, an Indian restaurant.
