Gaumont Greenock

Located in Greenock, Renfrewshire. The New Picture Palace was built in 1929 as a replacement for the old Picture Palace located directly opposite at the corner of Brougham Street & Robertson Street (in 2018 this was operating as a snooker club).

The New Picture Palace opened on 20th December 1929 and featured a cream faiance tile facade, with a corner tower feature, also covered in faiance tiles. Seating was provided for 1,710 in stalls & circle levels.

On 5th September 1955 it was taken over by the Rank Organisation and re-named Gaumont. It was closed on 6th December 1980 and was demolished in the early-1980’s. The site today is used as a shipping container storage facility.
