This beautiful drive-in theatre had one screen and was another short lived one. However, it was sure a great place to watch movies all through the school years of my youth, and beyond. It was located right off Interstate 5 near Balboa Avenue. Since it was right at the base of Soledad Mountain on the South, the entire acreage was deemed too valuable and it was sold to developers, closing in 1980. I sure did(and still) miss that place. It WAS a quiet, pretty place to watch movies at!

Found it! The current address is 4813 Bella Pacific Row, San Diego, CA. The drive-in managed to make it to 1980, but by the following year was demolished and now the property is a housing edition with no trace of the drive-in remaining. http://tinyurl.com/gnjrps3
This was our local drive-in. Great location right off the freeway (and by Garnet and Mission Bay Drive). Next to a hill, there were houses up top there I figured could see the films down below. Surrounded by tall trees so it was quite isolated.
Historical footnote— I saw Exorcist II opening night in 1977 with the “Burton lives” ending and generally hated it, then read later they’d swapped the last reel out to change the ending, but it was too late to go back by that time (movie was long gone).
