In Modena, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, the Cinema Scala opened in 1913. This large, very impressive building was designed by Cesare Bertoni. It stands back off the main road, at the end of a short road.
In 1993 the cinema was sub-divided into, I believe, two screens. However, it closed in 2009.
In 2011 squatters were evicted. In September 2016, when I visited, the building was boarded up.
