OK Theatres, an operator of 14 theatres in Texas, opened the Palace Theatre on December 25, 1935, with the Marx Brothers in “Night at the Opera".

Located adjoining the Texas Theatre, the Monahans News noted that the Palace Theatre seated 550 and E.M. Berg was manager of both theatres.

Texas newspapers reported the Palace Theatre, while owned by Griffith Amusement, was destroyed by fire September 7, 1946. The fire was also reported in Film Daily.

According to the 1946 Film Daily Year Book, the Palace Theatre under R.E. Griffith Theatres, with H.J. Griffith as president, had 35 theaters in Texas and New Mexico. H.J. Griffith Theatres, owned by H.J. Griffith, had 34 houses in Kansas Missouri, and Nebraska. Griffith Theatres, the largest division, had 118 locations in Texas and Oklahoma.
