Located at the corner of Mount Street and Merrick Street (the latter does not exist today) in the north of the city. The Mount Picture Theatre was opened on 6th July 1914. By the summer of 1932 it had been re-named Carlton Theatre and hed been equipped with a British Thomson Houston(BTH) sound system. By 1937 it was operated by Bolton Cinematograph Co. and presented pictures and variety. It had a 22ft wide proscenium, a 7ft deep stage and two dressing rooms. In later years it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.

The Carlton Theatre was closed by Bolton Cinematograph Co. in 1960.
