Plaza Theatre

Located at Washington Avenue and 187th Street in Fordham Heights district of the Bronx. Opened around 1912, the Plaza Theatre also had an open-air roof theatre with 625 seats, according to Michael R. Miller’s “Theatres of the Bronx.” In news reporting the theatre was sometimes cited as the “Bronx Plaza” to avoid confusion with theatres in other boroughs. The Plaza Theatre never converted to sound and closed around 1930.
