Situated in Gloucester city centre, this was easily the shortest-lived of the city’s cinemas. Originally the Olympia Skating Rink, which had opened on 22nd February 1910, the Picture Theatre was created when the rink was divided in half.

The Picture Theatre opened on Saturday 11th March 1911. The owner and manager was A. Blackman. A Mr Pritchard accompanied the films on the piano. Projection was via a Dreadnought Bioscope machine.

The cinema was licensed until 31st December 1911. At about that time, it appears to have fallen foul of safety regulations and the Picture Theatre was forced to close.

The building was demolished. The site eventually became a car park.
