Carmel Village Theatre

The construction of the Carmel Village Theatre was first announced in the Carmel Pine Cone on November 18, 1965. It was to be built by Tom Graff with partners, Ed Dickinson and Nick Pecora. Mr. Graff at one time operated the Carmel Theatre and Golden Bough Theatre.

The designers of the $150,000, 414-seat theater were Kipp Stewart and George Willox. The projection equipment was a Norelco Pulse Lite projector, the second to be installed in any California theatre.

The Village Theatre opened June 16, 1966, with Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison in “The Agony and the Ecstasy”.

The Carmel Village Theatre closed January 22, 1985.
