Horror Film Shot at Now-Demolished Ft. Wayne Cinema
FT. WAYNE, IN — According to the Journal Gazette, local filmmakers Richard Yates and Rodney Pasko shot a horror film last year at the now-razed Holiday 1 & 2 movie theater at the Northcrest Shopping Plaza in Ft. Wayne.

Coconut Grove May Return to Movie House Roots
MIAMI, FL — According to this article in the Miami Today News, Miami’s famous Coconut Grove Playhouse is planning on adding a movie screen and projection equipment to show films while the theater is not being used for stage productions. The Coconut Grove was originally opened as a movie house in 1926. Says the theater’s executive director Laura Calzolar, “It’s a return to our history. In many respects, we are coming back to our roots”.

Avalon Theatre in Danger?
MILWAUKEE, WI — according to this report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Craig Ellsworth, the current owner of the Avalon Theatre, has revealed plans to convert the historic theater into office space should his company fail to find a tenant interesting in reviving the Avalon.

Democratic Candidates Debate at Detroit Fox
DETROIT, MI — The nine democratic presidential candidates debated each other onstage at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit yesterday. The 90-minute event filled the 3000-plus seat movie palace to overflow capacity. The debate, which followed Sunday morning appearances by various candidates in Detroit-area churches, was co-sponsored by the Fox News Channel and the Congressional Black Caucus.
