Everyman Cinema Drops Plans For Nightclub
HAMPSTEAD, UK — The owners of the Everyman Cinema have dropped their plans to convert the basement of the historic movie theater into a nightclub, according to a recent Hampstead & Highgate Express article. Instead, they have announced plans to use the space as a 2nd, 90-seat screen dedicated to independent films.

Nederlander Group To Restore Bethesda’s Boro Theatre
BETHESDA, MD — According to a Business Gazette article, Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment has announced plans to transform Bethesda’s long-shuttered Boro Theatre. The group plans to convert the Art Deco movie house into a 700 seat performing arts center.

Theater For Sale?
I am very interested in owning and operating a classic movie theater in the Midwest or South. I have been searching for some time, but I’ve yet to find the right place. Please let me know if there’s something special out there that I’ve missed.

NEW SITE: Slowdown Fixed!
You may have noticed that Cinema Treasures was loading very slowly earlier in the week, but this problem has been corrected. In fact, the site is quite speedy now.
Also — we’ve improved the accuracy of the ‘Recent Comments’ panel. So if you make a comment on a theater, the theater’s name will appear in the ‘Recent Comments’ list (until it’s replaced by newer comments).

Villa Theatre Sale Delayed
The ongoing sale of the Villa Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah has apparently gone past its ending date, but Harmons is still working with the prospective buyer. The buyer plans to develop the property with the Villa as the center of an “entertainment center” with shops and restaurants. The Villa would be either a night club and/or dinner theater.

City Weights Pros And Cons Of Saving Theater
According to a North Gate News Online article, the El Cerrito Planning Commission is considering a proposal to reopen the El Cerrito Theater as an anchor for its downtown redevelopment plans. The theater, which has been dormant as a movie theater since the 1950s, would include two screens and a cafe.
