This little multiplex has gone under at least three different names and about as many remodeling/reconfigurations. The cinema was originally a twin when it was premiered by Malco Theatres on October 15, 1976 with Lee Marvin in “The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday” & Karen Black in “Burnt Offerings”.

On June 28, 1985 both auditoriums were split and the theatre was renamed the Malco Quartet. In November 1990 the theatre was expanded to eight screens and rightly renamed the Malco Cinema 8. It was taken over by Ajay Theatres on November 18, 2000. The theatre closed on July 26, 2001.

It was demolished in July 2006.

This theater was last named the Malco Cinema 8. It was closed and later demolished. The only thing left is the original concrete slap it was built on.

Malco’s Twin Cinema opened on October 15th, 1976. It became the Malco Quartet Cinema on June 28th, 1985. On November 9, 1990 it reached its final count of 8 screens with 1,248 total seats and the building doubled in size.

Ajay Theatres took on the Cinema 8 8-plex on November 18, 2000 along with the Regal Jackson 10. They steered to closure completing the 25th year of the lease after showtimes of July 26, 2001 with “Fast & Furious” being the final of eight movie showtimes that night. As the building reached its 30th anniversary, the building was demolished likely to get it off of the tax rosters in July of 2006.
