The Armview Theatre was part of the Walker-Affiliated Theatres chain when it opened in 1938. Architects were Luke, Little & Mace. It was taken over by Odeon Theatres and renamed Hyland Theatre.

At some point in time the theatre became part of a much larger chain, Odeon, I think, and the name was changed to the Hyland.
