Opened as a single screen Cinema Theatre on April 15, 1965 with Jack Lemmon in “How to Murder Your Wife”. Actress Joan Crawford appeared ‘in person’ at the opening. Just your typical 1960’s neighborhood cinema, which still showed movies in all its ‘widescreen’ monofonic, glory. Neon name with the plastic lettering. It was twinned on December 23, 1978.
“I remember seeing many a campy 1980’s movie here, and its a nostalgia trip every time I go back.”
It was closed in 2004 and demolished in 2005.

The December 7, 1964, issue of Boxoffice Magazine said that the 740-seat Cinema was being built for Metropolitan Theatres. The architect was Carl Moeller. The new house was to be managed by George D. McKenzie Jr., who would also continue to manage Metropolitan’s adjacent Airport Drive-In. The single-screen house was equipped to show 35mm and 70mm movies.
The April 5, 1965, issue of Boxoffice said that the opening of the Cinema had been set for April 6.

This house reopened as a twin in December, 1978, the same month Metropolitan reopened the Fairview Theatre as a twin and opened their new Plaza del Oro Twin in Santa Barbara. The opening day for the Cinema Twin was December 23.
The Cinema Theatre opened on April 15th, 1965, with Joan Crawford appearing on its stage. Grand opening ads posted.
Opened as a single-screener with Jack Lemmon in “How To Murder Your Wife”.
Some original installations the Cinema Theatre had as of 1965 include Century MBA projection with Cole-Morgan F17X lenses and a 24x52ft Technikota screen.
Closed on February 16, 2006.
