Harry J. Lankhorst, Jr. announced the Wigwam in February of 1953 between Highway 10 and “the swimming pit.” The first advertised film was June 11, 1953 with"Woman of North Country."

Sneaking into the drive-in on July 14, 1970 prior to showtimes was a tornado that destroyed the screen tower. It would reopened with a new tower on July 22, 1970 with its previous shows moved to the downtown hardtop theatre. The last ad for the Wigwam is June 26, 1983 with “Kiss Me Goodbye” and “Without a Trace.” Although a full slate of movies is promised in July of 1983, it’s likely someone pointed out that the 30-year leasing agreement ended in June. It was demolished in December of 1986.
