The Little Cinema was inaugurated by the 20th Century Theatres chain on November 11, 1960, featuring two screens designated as Studio A and Studio B. It was an art house cinema and the opening movies were Ingmar Bergman’s “The Seventh Seal” & “Aparajito”. The venue ceased operations in August 1962. On December 23, 1961 Srtudio A was renamed Le Petit Cinéma Français and began exclusively screening non-subtitled French-language films; however, this policy concluded on February 10, 1962, due to a limited supply of uncensored titles available from Quebec.

Subsequently, the Arcade at 135 Yonge Street (Separate CT entry) was rebranded as the Little Cinema on November 8, 1962.
