In Budapest the Westend Shopping Centre, adjacent to the Western railway station, opened on 12th November 1999. It included a 14-screen multiplex that was operated by South African exhibitor Ster Century.
That company withdrew from the European market in 2002. The cinema was acquired by UCI, and was operated by its subsidiary, Palace Cinemas.
In January 2011 it was acquired by Cinema City. A full refurbishment took place, and digital projection was introduced throughout.
