The Woodlake Square Shopping Center was announced by Trammell Crowe and anchor tenant Handy Andy Supermarket in 1972. ABC Interstate Theatre Circuit announced a triplex as an addition to the center in 1974. The venue opened on December 25, 1975 with George C. Scott in “The Hindenburg”, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” and Glenda Jackson in “The Devil is a Woman”. Thomas E. Killen was the architect of the $1.5 million ‘plex for architectural firm Killen-Hudson Group.
The ownership followed the ABC Interstate progeny becoming ABC Plitt (1978), Plitt Southern, Plitt, and Cineplex Odeon (1985). Cineplex moved on following September 14, 1991 showtimes of Charlie Sheen in “Hot Shots”, Justin Whalin in “Child’s Play 3”, and Mickey Rourke in “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man”. The space was converted for other retail uses.
