The Crystal Theater, 209 South Walnut Street, was operating as early as November 1909. Managed by John Dunmyre and owned by the local Andrews Amusement Company, it sold in December 1911 to Leroy Tudor, former owner of the Majestic Theater, and Arthur Bennett, an Anderson, Ind., theater manager. George Williston, the next owner, sold to J. Wallace on November 21, 1913. Charles Lower owned the theater in 1915. (Lower ended up owning the Crystal and the Lyric Theater located across the street.) In October 1915 the Crystal Theater was renovated, cleaned and painted. It reopened October 24, 1915, with “The Exile of ‘Bar-K’ Ranch” on the screen.
The Crystal Theater appears to have closed February 20, 1919, after a showing of “The Benefactor". Between March and June 1919 broker Warren Jackson offered the theater for sale for $2500 because the owners had bought a farm and were leaving Muncie.
