Opened in 1929 the Cameo was a neighbourhood cinema of Gent. It was closed temporarily during the the early part of World War II. It reopened again in 1943. It was closed permanently in 1974. It became for a short time a small live theatre of an association in Gent.

It has been demolished and offices occupy the site, but part of the facade remains.
