Warren L. Moxley opened the Savoy Theatre in what was called Blytheville’s African American downtown or business district in July of 1946. Using a combination of live vaudeville and mostly movies, the theatre had a 20-year life closing in 1966. It briefly reopened in 1967 but was apparently closed for non-payment of taxes. The vacant building collapsed onto a personal residence in 1970 leading to its demolition.
