News About This Theater

Saginaw 12

This theatre has been in Saginaw since December 26, 1975 and has been known by many names. Most people in Saginaw still refer to it as the Quad. The popcorn there was really good, and you could also choose from an assortment of candy or get nachos. The people that worked there were generally nice too!! There was never really that big of a problem with the movies which is really nice because there aren’t any interruptions. I would definitely rather see a movie here in Saginaw. It expanded to 8-screens on July 13, 1979. It expanded again, this time to 12-screens on October 19, 1984.

The Saginaw 12 was closed on January 12, 2014 and demolished in February 2014.

I just got back from seeing the new movie Hide and Seek at this theater. I have gone to this theater many times. It seems like the more i go, the more dissapointing experiences i have. This time will be the last. The atmosphere here is not one that the everyday movie goer wants to experience. There are too many people allowed to have cell phones on. Constant talking to other people is just the start of the problems. Too many people sneeking in at the last moment to catch the end of the movie. They have security guards all over and they seem to spend their time walking back and forth up the isle in hopes of catching someone with their feet on the back of the chair in front of them, when actually they constantly interrupt the movie but walking around and sitting down and watching the movie, then getting back up, and so on. If you havnt gone to a movie here, i would advise making the drive to Cinema Hollywood in Birch Run. It is well worth the extra miles. I will guarantee you will have a better experience. If management wants to keep people coming to their theater, i would strongly suggest a change in policy.

I would think that its common knowledge that a movie like “Hide and Seek” would attract a certain crowd, one that likes to talk and leave their cell phones on. This is an even bigger problem on the weekends when the theater is alot busier. This isnt just a problem at Saginaw 8, any theater that does alot of business (like Saginaw 8 does) faces this problem. A good hint is to maybe go during the week, if you go during the day you probably have a good chance of getting the theater all to yourself. Saginaw 8 is a nice little theater, a little rough around the edges, but its clean and has a “homey” sort of feel to it. The seating is comfortable, the popcorn is always good, the staff is friendly and its projection quality is miles ahead of its competitor down the road-GKC.

This has been merged with the adjacent Quad 4. The entire complex is now the Goodrich Saginaw 12, with first-run movies on all 12 screens. Might want to merge the listings.

I saw Rango here in April.
