The Five Below store that now inhabits the former Arcadia has been shuttered for at least 48 hours
“The Philadelphia health department ordered the Five Below store at 1529 Chestnut St. to cease operations for at least 48 hours Tuesday after finding dead mice, mouse droppings and other evidence of rodent infestation.Inspectors also found 22 bags of chips and popcorn with holes gnawed into them, dumpsters with open lids and damaged, stained or missing tiles in the basement.”
Upgrades are coming to the PFC.
The two-screen movie theater at 1412 Chestnut St. will undergo a massive renovation in 2025. The upgrades include a new box office and enhancements to the lobby. They will begin in May and are expected to finish in early September.
The lobby, meanwhile, will be redesigned to pay “homage to various past eras of film.” The concessions stand will be expanded and bar area will be remodeled to make the space more comfortable.
Walked by the theatre today and ALOT of work is going on. The front was open, lobby area stripped down to the studs. Lumber and other building materials going in.
From Alaska Itinerary:
“The Liberty Theater, located at 301 Adams Street, is a historic landmark in downtown Seward. Built in the 1940s, it served as a beloved movie theater with a nostalgic Hollywood atmosphere. The theater closed in November 2013. It operated as part of a hotel until 2022 but is now closed. Despite this, the building remains an important part of Seward’s cultural heritage.”
The building still stands as of November 2024 and can be seen in one of Adam the Woo’s Alaska travel vlogs on youtube.

Given where the fires took place, there’s going to be alot of destruction. People have lost homes, lives, pets.
Maybe hold off on questions/posting if one thing is there or not for a bit, just out of respect and empathy to those affected?
