Theater

This theater first appears on the 1912 Sanborn. It was located in the southernmost storefront of the old Huntington Hotel building, a large three story brick structure that dated to sometime before 1884. The building was purchased by the Masons in 1900, and from 1904 they used the northern half for their lodge. The 1906 map shows the future theater space occupied by an express office.

The theater remained in operation at least through 1917, and may have been the Rex Theatre listed in the 1914-15 AMPD. It was closed by 1923 at the latest, when the southern portion of the building was demolished to allow construction of the new Masonic Temple, which occupies the site today.
