Theater

This large theater is shown on the 1911 Sanborn in a concrete block building that was constructed sometime after 1905. There were small storefronts flanking a central entrance.

If this was still open in 1914-15 it may have been the Electric Theater or Orpheum Theater. It was definitely closed by 1917, when the map shows the retail spaces expanded into the rear section, much of which was used for storage.

The building reflects Cherryvale’s decline. The castellated facade is showing on the 220 side, but 218 has a nasty slipcover. 220 was a dentist office, but the building may now be vacant.
