Theater

This theater was located in the eastern storefront of the Central Block, a two story brick commercial building constructed in 1887. The 1911 map shows a drugstore here. The theater appears on the 1917 map, at which point the original oriels appear to have been removed from the front.

This was likely either the Electric or Orpheum, both of which are listed in the 1914-15 AMPD. Later maps are not available online. It’s possible this was the Royal listed in the 1926 Yearbook.

In any case, this theater closed long ago and the space reverted to retail. The building is in rather seedy shape, and the roofline was chopped flat long ago. The space today is a hair salon.
