The third theater to open in West Edmonton Mall was Cineplex-Odeon West Mall 8 on September 27, 1985. This theater is located on the first level of Phase III’s West Edmonton Mall expansion, in the heart of the food court area next to the Big McDonald’s. The box office is situated upfront on the food court level, and behind it is a long curved hallway with ramps and stairs leading down to the main lobby, concessions, office, arcade games, washrooms, and 8 auditoriums on the level below. It became a 2nd-run/dollar theater on April 30, 2004 after Cineplex-Odeon Cinemas 6 closed its doors the day before.

The second theater to open in West Edmonton Mall was Famous Players West Mall 5 on August 18, 1983, located on the second level of the mall’s Phase II. It is situated just below the Palace Casino and in close proximity to the mall’s amusement park, Fantasyland. The theater set a record at the West Edmonton Mall for having the largest cinema auditorium (Auditorium #1), which can seat 690 people. This is almost three times larger than the other four auditoriums in Famous Players West Mall 5, as well as all the auditoriums in the newer Cineplex-Odeon West Mall 8 and the older Cineplex-Odeon Cinemas 6. However, the other four auditoriums in the theater had a larger seating capacity than any of those at Cineplex-Odeon Cinemas 6.

Cineplex-Odeon Cinemas 6 was the first theater to open in West Edmonton Mall on September 25, 1981. It is situated at the end of the first level of West Edmonton Mall, beyond the gourmet food court area of Phase I. It was originally a first-run theater, but transitioned to a second-run/dollar theater on December 13, 1991 (making the tickets priced at $1.00 each) due to competition from the other two first-run theaters that opened shortly after. The theater’s box office can only be reached on the first level. To access the remaining areas of the theater, such as the concessions, arcade games, bathrooms, and all six auditoriums located in the basement level, patrons must proceed behind the box office and use either the long stairs, escalator, or elevator.
