Another one of Ft. Worths great ideas. Tear it down and put up a parking lot.

The Garza theater has been closed by the City of Post. They say the theater building is structural unsafe. Don’t know if it will reopen due to the cost of repair. Please change the Garza to closed.

The Interstate chain opened the Westwood in 1966 and they closed the Queen downtown at the same time.

I remember it was painted black and orange. The Crescent tool and supply company is located beside where it was.

It was located where Sams is today. Next door (east) was the Sands Bowling Alley and Sands Motel.

Visited the LaVista this last weekend of October 2011 or what is left of it. The front doors are chained shut but looking through the windows of the front door, one sees a big mess. You can see pigeons flying around inside and light coming throught the roof. The seats appear to have been removed and the screen is gone. The remains of two carbon arc projectors are sitting in the foyer.

After the Top of Texas drive in closed, it was rebuilt on the edge of another part of the city and renamed Pampa DI Theater.

The theater at the corner of Cuyler and Francis is and always has been the Capri. It was “The Cave” a unsuccesful video arcade. I understand the roof has leaked and there is quite alot of water damage in the aud. I have not been in it since it showed movies and it has sit empty at least 30+ years. Heard and Jones drug store is the original location of the La Nora theater. It has a huge basement that was the screen end of the La Nora, but the building was rebuilt after the fire destroyed it.

The Capri theater is still staning in downtown Pampa. It operated briefly as The Cave gameroom but has been closed for years. Any info on this theater?

This theater should have an aka name of Cozy Theater. If you do a search for Cozy Theater, you won’t find this theater.

The Ritz recently redid the marquee and the vertical. The neon was damaged in a hail storm so it was replace with florscent colored tubing. It does not look that great but it was a cheap fix for the Ritz who has very little income.
