Two things: Name is actually Cineplex Odeon Sunridge Spectrum Cinemas which the theatre was opened by Loews Cineplex Entertainment not Cineplex Odeon because the said company merged with Loews Theatres in 1998.

It’s worth noting Loews Cineplex Entertainment ran it until 2004. It was the worlds biggest cinema exhibitor.

To correct anyone, this theatre has been operating under Cineplex Entertainment since 2003. Loews Cineplex actually opened this theatre since the original Cineplex Odeon folded as an independent company in 1998.

Ownership history that should be included: Odeon Canada > Canadian Odeon > Cineplex Odeon > Loews Cineplex > Cineplex Entertainment (Cineplex Galaxy until 2005)

To amend my comment, this was actually opened by Loews Cineplex that year, before being succeeded by Cineplex Galaxy in 2003 (now known as Cineplex Entertainment).

Since Cineplex Odeon disappeared as an independent entity by 1998, this theatre was part of Loews Cineplex when it opened in 2001. Cineplex Galaxy acquired this theatre in 2003.

In addition to my comment above, its actually opened by Loews Cineplex as well since Cineplex Odeon was part of the company itself.

One of the locations still uses the four ringed logo.

The actual title of this page is “Cineplex Odeon South Edmonton Cinemas”. The first Rec Room location was also opened next door in September 19, 2016 as both of these are owned by Cineplex.

Four VIP Screens added so does the one DBOX Screen. In 2018, this theatre, formerly Cineplex Odeon North Edmonton Cinemas became Cineplex Cinemas North Edmonton and VIP.

Opening date was on November 7, 1997. This was the first SilverCity cinema built by Famous Players.

And to add Mikey, that theatre gained a new label: Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam and VIP.

Was a Canadian Odeon and later Cineplex Odeon. Became independent after Loews Cineplex went in peril in 2001.

SilverPlaqueVII commented about Cedarbrae Cinemas 8 on Jan 1, 2020 at 10:50 am

Perhaps Cineplex may have a look at Cedarbrae since closing the Walmart store last year in a form of a Junxion brand. Junxion is a movie theatre and entertainment Centre (like Xscape and Rec Room) to open in Mississauga in 2020.

I wonder if Cineplex will ever construct the new Junxion Cinema at Cedarbrae with eight screens. This will require the relocation of Goodlife Fitness.

Right now, Morningside and Cedarbrae Mall just went downhill since then.

The theatre was eventually replaced and succeeded by a new Cineplex Odeon Eglinton Town Centre Cinemas in 2000 built partially on the former GM plant.

This theatre is on a brink of possible closure before 2026. Oxford wants this property and site to be redeveloped for the TTC’s Line 2 Bloor-Danforth extension to Scarborough Centre which replaces Line 3 Scarborough RT. Cineplex plans to construct a new cinema on the northeast corner of the property where the old Sears stood.

Fun fact: This theatre was partially built on the former General Motors Scarborough Van Assembly Plant operated from 1974 until 1993. Construction of this theatre began in 1998.

Since Cedarbrae 8 left its legacy after its demise, Fit4Less by GoodLife opened in the former Staples building which still stands.
