The Cozy Photoplay Theatre was mentioned in the Dodge City Daily Globe beginning in 1912.

Exhibitors Trade Review, September 20, 1924: “The Cozy Theatre, Dodge City, is also another very pretty little house for its size. Two Powers 6A’s and a G. E. Motor Generator Set is the. projection equipment. Projection was very good while I was there and the machines were well handled by the projectionist in charge".

An unnamed theatre was on Sanborn Maps 1918 at 205 West Chestnut Street. The Cozy Theatre was listed in Film Daily Year Book 1926 and in 1951 an address was given at 205 W. Chestnut Street with 390 seats.

A brief glimpse of the Cozy Theatre can be seen in the black and white version of Warner Bros. Errol Flynn premiere of “Dodge City”, April 1, 1939, available on YouTube.

On January 27, 1958, Front Street, which paralleled Chestnut Street, was officially renamed Wyatt Earp Boulevard with television’s Wyatt Earp, Hugh O’Brien, in attendance. Chestnut Street seems to be missing from current maps, replaced by the parking lot in the 200 block of Wyatt Earp Boulevard.
