That seems odd because the bankruptcy court returned the theater to AMC Theaters since they still were on the lease. This sounds like the Strip Mall decided to not wait for AMC to convert it back and put it up for court sale. The only reason it’s not open now is because the strip mall couldn’t wait for AMC to move back in.

They have the location back but they have to pay back all of New Vision’s debts before reopening the location
Sounds like they let the lease expire and opted to not renew rather than downgrade it to AMC classic. The only single screen theater they have left is a IMAX in Chicago, IL at the navy peir

Local report on the theater.
the external parts of the Dolby are finished but the theater is apparently not done with work delayed by covid-19. they only put the Dolby video tunnel on the 1st floor entrance based on the apperence. the 2nd level doors are unchanged but the work did mess up the dod matrex signs and the auditorium entrance signage from the rave era was removed from the 1st floor entrance its now set up like a normal AMC auditorium entrance. no word if this means that the rest of the doors will be getting the Video display signs and have the rave overhangs ripped out for AMC side door markers.

They decided to close forever. The only chance that this theater has to reopen is if a smaller chain like New Vision Theaters acquires the location or AMC takes over and makes it a Classic location.
I came north from Allentown PA to see two of the sailor Moon films here and after being in this theater I wish they would fill in North from Philadelphia and south from Stroudsburg.
Checked up on the theater and posted new pictures. the AMC Neon is up on the building and the inside has hade the neon removed and is all painted in Primer White in the commons parts of the theater. the Recliners are in in auditoriums 7-10 with the rest walled off and closed. Half the snack bar was removed and the construction work lookslike this is where the MacGuffins® Bar is being installed. also a new Box office/ Customer service desk is installed.
the theater is in a soft opening mode as of now . The theater is limiting crowds by under booking the Auditoriums by only filling the red reclinera until the grand opening in September. the nlack seats are being left empty.
Dolby has a Deal with AMC Theaters to only install the Dolby Cinema auditoriums in there locations in the US the spec has a Dolby designed Recliner seat with built in speakers and a Video wall entrance tunnel experience made by the producers of the film.
that was generally how mall Cinemas used to be signed. This sign looks like the old Serif font signage that GCC used in the 70’s and 80’s mainly so the mall could change the operator without a need to change out the signage.

AMC theaters did attempt to require the location since they were still on the lease. I don’t know if that was approved or rejected.
