Does anyone have pictures of what the abandoned theater looks like now after Cinemark shut this one down permanently. I just want to see how gutted (mainly the front of the theater) it is and I don’t live in El Paso
Actually the deal with Green Suites Hotel Solutions didn’t go through well and the Dion’s Pizza company just purchased the old It’z building for “Flagship” Campus don’t know what’s going to happen to Movies 8 now since the deal is off.
I think this theater closed permanently because Premiere Cinemas did not reopen this theater back in May when Texas allow theaters to reopen and the theater is not on the Premiere Cinemas site anymore.
I meant Screen 10 was turned into a IMAX on June 5, 2015 two weeks after they closed down the old IMAX theater across the Mall. First IMAX movie they played was San Andreas. Sorry for my grammar in my last comment.
They closed this theater on May 22, 2015. The last IMAX movie they played was Avengers: Age of Ultron. Two weeks later they turn Screen 10 into a IMAX theater inside the AMC Palisades 21 building and the first film they played in that auditorium is San Andreas.
This is the first New Mexico movie theater to reopen in 2021 during the pandemic, it reopened on March 5, 2021 and the movies they played on its first week are, Raya and The Last Dragon, Chaos Walking, Tom & Jerry, Nomadland The Little Things, News of The World, and The Croods: A New Age. Expect more theaters in New Mexico
Actually General Cinema closed this theater on September 29, 2000 (making September 28 their last day) due to the company near bankruptcy and that the theater hasn’t showed any new movies to play on their opening weekend of release since Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo when it first opened back in December 1999, they been playing movies that left Century Rio 24 before they go to the second-run theater Cinemark Movies 8. Madstone Theaters took over General Cinema and opened its doors on June 7, 2002 as a Indie theater and the first Albuquerque movie theater to serve alcohol. But the last day was on June 7, 2004 due to Madstone heading into bankruptcy but they planning on keeping this theater opened since it was the most busiest Madstone Theatres but they ended up having to close it and all of their theaters and leaving Albuquerque without a movie theater that serves alcohol until 12 years later when Flix Brewhouse opened.
Century Rio 24 is reopening its doors on May 1st after being closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Regal Santa Fe Stadium 16 is going to reopen it’s doors on May 14th
Regal Santa Fe Place is going to reopen it’s doors on May 21st
Regal UA High Ridge 8 is going to reopen it’s doors on May 21st
Regal Winrock Stadium 16 ScreenX, IMAX, & RPX is going to reopen it’s doors on May 7th
Regal UA Cottonwood is going to reopen it’s doors on May 7th
This theater is now a Dispensary

Oh okay, I thought you were pulling an April Fools joke
MCDisney where did you heard the news of AMC reopening this and other theaters?
When did this theater closed?
Actually the deal with Green Suites Hotel Solutions didn’t go through well and the Dion’s Pizza company just purchased the old It’z building for “Flagship” Campus don’t know what’s going to happen to Movies 8 now since the deal is off.
When did the old building first opened?
I’ve been told that ever since Premier closed this theater permanently, the theater space is getting remold and just going to be more stores
Wow! You are really good at this! I hope you could get some photos and updates on theaters in my state (New Mexico) soon!
