There seems to be a small problem at present clicking on a link. I was a little wary of mentioning it over the weekend as I have just installed a new security suite and thought that might be responsible, but I am pretty sure now that it is just the CT site. On the new theatres page for example clicking on the name used to take to that theatres details, now I have to use an easy workaround of clicking the link that appears on the map (as mentioned by RickB).
Also on the home page there are new theatres listed from 8th but on the new theatre page the newest entry is currently 5th Dec.

In the aerial photo the Gaumont is the building top right with the canopy extending over the pavement. The cinema bottom centre is the Regal / ABC / Cannon which has been shuttered for many years.
Things seem to have improved, when I visited in November 2013 there was no mustiness and the theatre appeared open and used with a mix of film and stage performances. There is a history of the theatre on their website which shows (undated) magazine scans of the design with a claimed opened date of 1936 for the apartments and 1937 for the the theatre. Photos here:–
Yes I took the photos. The exterior is a none-too-great scan of a photograph taken on an Olympus OM40 – I’ll stick it on the list of images to replace with a better scan taken from the negative!
And a photo which I had labelled as 2000, but maybe 2002 as detailed above, of some surviving decoration in the balcony. Taken during the early stages of the demolition.

The facade has been trimmed at the top and the entrance filled in with a nasty shop-front.
